I have a friend who has done a lot of work in second life. If there is enough interest I could get him to give us a bit of a tour.

On his blog you can see some of the work he has done for the SAP community.

Spent last night roaming around Second Life for the first time. For those of
you that remember the VRM (Virtual Reality Machine) which didn't really take
off, it's very similar, but much more advanced.

If you haven't taken a look yet (I guess pretty unlikely :) then download the
GUI and give it a try. You'll be pleasantly surprised, and with around 10
million subscribers, there's always something happening. There was even a
live 'virtual' concert by Suzanne Vega last year.

The reason I thought I'd post, is to see if there's any way we can all
benefit from this. Apart from the obvious money making opportunities, such as
SL script and object coders, it would be really neat to have a PHP-London
presence on one of the islands.

I did a search, but couldn't find anything for PHP within the grid, so this
practically guarantees community interest. The whole thing is designed to be
a virtual replication of the real world, so it's a unique opportunity to sell
your skills, and make real money in a virtual world.

Rob.
